Charming villages around Whitby

Whitby is situated in a fantastic location on the North York Moors coastline, surrounded by charming rural hamlets and stunning coastal bays. Here are a few of our most cherished picturesque villages to explore, located at close distance from your holiday accommodation with Pantiles apartments:

The Bay of Robin Hood
The fishermen’s cottages that make up Robin Hood’s Bay, one of the most picturesque settlements in Yorkshire, seem to cling to the side of a cliff as they fall down towards the sea. In the 18th century, the village’s winding lanes and intersecting pathways made it a haven for smugglers; nevertheless, these days, Robin Hood’s Bay is home to a ton of charming stores and cafes, many of which welcome dogs.

Ruswarp
Highlights of Ruswarp, a charming North York Moors village about two miles from Whitby on the banks of the River Esk, include a tiny steam railway, a unique bridge, and wooden rowing boats that may be rented out in the summer. Shops in Ruswarp include a general store and butcher. The Bridge Inn is a classic village bar serving a variety of home-cooked dishes.

Goathland
Sheep graze on the serene village green and picturesque countryside of Goathland, which is located in the North York Moors National Park. The picturesque surroundings include the 70-foot Mallyan Spout waterfall. In ITV’s Heartbeat, the village was used as Aidensfield, and it’s worthwhile to stop by the Aidensfield Stores to pick up some mementos of your trip.
